(Sponsored by Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi) – 22nd May – 2nd June 2017
Creating awareness of business opportunities, supporting potential entrepreneurs and assisting them in sustaining their enterprises is a major concern of agencies involved in accelerating economic development through entrepreneurship. Training these potential entrepreneurs is a crucial intervention in the whole process, a fact that, fortunately, is recognized by most of the agencies concerned with enterprise promotion. However, an analysis of the variety of training programmes for entrepreneurs all over the world revealed that the package of training interventions often lack certain important elements, thus reducing the impact of training on the potential entrepreneurs resulting in high dropout and or low rate of success of entrepreneur. While the need for training is ever increasing, the paucity for effective trainers in entrepreneurship development is widely evident in many of the developing countries.
A Faculty Development Programme (FDP) is designed to train and develop professionals in entrepreneurship development so that they can act as resource persons in guiding and motivating young S&T persons to take up entrepreneurship as a career. For each FDP, there are 20 -25 faculty members from Science and Engineering colleges, Polytechnics and Entrepreneurship Development Organizations are trained for duration of two weeks. The FDPs provide inputs on process and practice of entrepreneurship development, communication and inter-personal skills, creativity, problem solving, achievement motivation training, inputs on resource and knowledge industries.
The training methodology includes case studies, group discussion, games and simulation exercise, field visits and classroom lectures.
