Due to phenomenal success and increased growth of the sector, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) as per the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), is planning to open up its outlets abroad by the beginning of next year.
KVIC is planning to start the initial phase with opening up stores in Dubai and Paris. Thereby slowly planning spread its wings around the world.
Vinay Kumar Saxena the current chairman of KVIC in a press interview said that Khadi as a brand of clothing has gained lot of importance and significance in the recent years with the Prime Minister himself promoting the brand.
Khadi has variant of different brands including Beri is already in business and is making huge profits. Raymond, Allen Solly and Turtle have also signed MoUs with the Khadi Board seeking permission to introduce their Variant of the Khadi Garment.
In the recent years we have seen the sales of Khadi have registered growth in sales up to 70 percent. In 2016-17, the KVIC registered sales of 2,005 crores while the sale from 2015-16 was around 1,520 crores. We are now assures that make in India campaign stared by the Prime Minster is paying big returns to the nation.
The board has set a target of achieving 5000 crore mark in sales by the end of 2018-19.
