Awareness programme on PEACE scheme launched in Thoothukudi

An awareness programme on advantages of the Promotion of Energy Audit and Conservation of Energy (PEACE) scheme launched by government for energy conservation to benefit the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) was conducted here on Wednesday.

The benefits of this scheme could be utilised to bring down the cost of production in the MSME sector, Assistant Collector (Training), S. Saravanan, said in his presidential address.

The government was organising awareness programmes on how to conserve energy, but people and the industry body concerning MSME did not pay much attention to it, he said.

All schemes launched by the government were aimed at improving the economic conditions of the people. The MSME could play a major role in the economic development and hence he urged the entrepreneurs to make use of this scheme, which has components such as awareness and training programme, incentive for energy audit and implementation of changes based on energy audit recommendations.
